Austin Hit-And-Run Claims One Life

On a late afternoon early last month Austin Police Officers responded to an auto-pedestrian collision in the 4100 block Guadalupe Street in Austin which claimed the life of a 49-year-old man.

Reports say a red Chrysler van was traveling northbound in the outside lane of Guadalupe Street when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street. The driver of the Chrysler van fled the scene without rendering aid to the injured pedestrian, who was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital with life threatening injuries. The victim, Jesse Elmer Whited Jr., died while at University Medical Center.
