Austin's Ben White Blvd. the Site of Fatality Accident

Austin Police Officers responded to a serious injury collision last month at East Ben White Boulevard and Woodward Street.

The accident occurred when a white 2001 Ford Excursion traveling westbound in the middle lane of East Ben White Boulevard approaching Woodward Street in the lane next to a Chevrolet Cavalier drove through the intersection of Ben White Blvd and Woodward Street.

At the same time, a blue 1998 Ford Mustang traveling southbound on Woodward Street, approaching the intersection of East Ben White Blvd, ran the red light and crashed into the front right of the Ford Excursion causing it to collide into the Chevrolet Cavalier which was directly beside it.

The occupants of the Ford Excursion and the Chevrolet Cavalier suffered only minor injuries and were not transported to the hospital. The driver and passenger of the Mustang, Sergio Rangel, 27, and Lauren Matyis, 25, were pronounced dead.
