Early Morning Collision Kills Motorcyclist
Austin Police Officers responded to a serious injury collision at Martin Luther King Boulevard and the Ed Bluestein Southbound Service road early in the morning in the middle of June to find a motorcyclist dead.
The incident occurred when a white Nissan Pathfinder driven by Ruben Banda Flores, 31, traveling eastbound on Martin Luther King Boulevard ran the red light at Ed Bluestein and crashed into a motorcycle driven by Randy Carter, 42.
Carter, who was traveling westbound on Martin Luther King Boulevard and was making a left turn onto the Ed Bluestein southbound service road, was struck and killed. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger on his motorcycle was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge with serious injuries.
Flores was arrested and charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call APD.
