Ohio Kindergartner Dies in Bus Accident
A six-year-old student died when his school bus left Rt. 60 and flipped over, injuring the driver along with another student in the accident.
The bus, which was in Dresden, Ohio, heading toward Nashport Elementary School for the second-to-last day of school, somehow lost control and went off the right side of the road. The bus smashed into a utility pole and rolled at least once before coming to rest on its roof. Seven students and the driver were on the bus at the time.
Kasey R. King, from Frazeysburg, was sitting near the front of the bus and was killed after he was pinned inside. In addition, rescuers had to extricate the bus driver, Carol Oler, 47. A life flight helicopter transported Oler to Grant Medical Center, where she was listed in fair condition after the accident.
Reports say that Oler is one of the best drivers in the district, has always maintained a clean driving record and has up-to-date safety and health certifications. The investigation was continuing.
Even with impeccable credentials, accidents still happen. Question is, was there negligence on behalf of the driver, school district, or bus company?
