Austin Cyclist Dies in Traffic Accident
Austin Police Officers responded to a crash in the 8800 block of Cameron Road in Austin to discover a cyclist fatality.
Reports say that a gray Dodge Caravan was traveling northbound in the 8800 block of Cameron Road. A bicycle, ridden by Charlie Pink, was traveling southbound in the 8800 block of Cameron Road. Pink attempted to turn left but failed to yield the right of way. He was struck by the Dodge and killed.
Pink, who would have been 63 in July, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Dodge was not injured, and it does not appear that alcohol or speed was a factor in this crash. Pink was wearing a helmet, but reportedly none of the lights on the bicycle were operational.
